Torrential flooding across north India has claimed at least 140 lives as of October 2 according to official estimates, with the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh worst affected.

Footage from Patna, the capital of Bihar, shot on September 30 shows the extent of the damage as people are being ferried by boat through water-logged streets and buildings.

The India Armed Forces were also deployed to provide aid to the region, with helicopters being used to drop supply packets on isolated areas.
