In this lecture, Shaykh Qamar Ilyas briefly relates the special status of the Ahlul Bayt (the family of the Holy Prophet Peace Be Upon Him) as per the beliefs of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah.
The shaykh also touches upon the correct understanding held by the Sunnis in relation to the status of Amir Mu'awiyyah (Radi Allahu Anhu).
The rest of the lecture centres upon the events leading up to the tragedy of karbala. Why was yazid opposed? What was his character? What led Imam Hussain (May allah Be Pleased with Him) and members of the Ahlul Bayt to the land of karbala, in which the grandson of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), Imam Hussain (May Allah Be Pleased With Him) and the other members of the Ahle Bayt were martyred on the order of the wretched Yazid.
It's important to note that this lecture provides the Sunni stance on the status of the Ahlul Bayt, Amir Muawiya (Radi Allahu Anhu) and Yazid. This also provides an authentic account of the events leading up to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and the rest of the Shuhada of karbala (Allah be pleased with all of them and raise their rank).
