Residents in West Sumatra have seen the first rainfall for a month as the haze crisis continues to affect Indonesia.

The footage, filmed on September 24, shows a light rain shower as grey clouds cover the skyline above West Sumatra.

The filmer told Newsflare: "After more than one month it never rained, on Tuesday there was light rain. The rain began to flush, though not yet able to remove the haze.

"The impact of the haze has led to a number of areas forced to close school activities."
