Trump acknowledges mentioning Biden corruption allegations in call to Ukrainian leader

Once again, U.S. President Donald Trump is facing allegations of foreign meddling to help him win a presidential campaign.
Trump has admitted talking with his Ukrainian counterpart about former Vice president Joe Biden... but insists that they discussed nothing inappropriate.
The Democrats, meanwhile, are pressing for an investigation.
Kim Da-mi reports.
President Trump has acknowledged that he did talk about former Vice President Joe Biden in a phone call in July with Ukrainian President Vologymyr Zelensky.
The call was reported to the U.S. Inspector General last week by a whistleblower.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday,... Trump said the call did take place, but it was largely to congratulate Zelensky, he claimed, even though he admitted bringing up the corruption allegations facing Biden and his son Hunter.
U.S. media cite sources saying Trump pressed Zelensky in the call to investigate them.
According to Trump, Biden, while vice president, abused his power by pressuring a Ukrainian prosecutor to stop any investigation of his son.
There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either of the Bidens,... but the prosecutor in question was fired.
The Ukraine issue is a double-edged sword for both Trump and Biden.
If Trump did pressure the Ukrainian leader to investigate Biden’s son, it could be another "Russia scandal."
For Biden, it could make it harder for him to win his party's nomination or the presidential election in 2020.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has denied that Trump attempted to pressure Zelensky.
In the meantime, Trump and Zelensky are expected to meet in person at the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.
