This episode was originally written for Valerie Harper. It was mid-way through production of this episode where Valerie was fired and production shot down for the remainder of the week. The following week, Sandy Duncan was brought in and the episode was re-shot. Although it isn't the first episode to air with Sandy Duncan, it was the first episode they shot with her.
