WATCH: How 'animal feed' is mixed with regular rice

MANILA - The National Food Authority explained Thursday how "animal feed" is mixed with regular rice. NFA Spokesman Rex Estoperez said all regular milled rice has some percentage of "broken" rice grains. He said more expensive rice has as little as 15% "broken" rice grains in the mix. However, a local trader, Purefeeds Corp., mixed rice imported from Thailand with broken rice intended for animal feed and selling it as premium rice. Estoperez said that while the broken rice is not premium rice, it is still safe to eat. ABS-CBN UMAGANG KAY GANDA, July 10, 2014
