Federer out as Gublis powers into French Open quarters

Ernests Gulbis of Latvia shocked tennis fans all over the world after he defeated Roger Federer in the fourth round of the French Open. It was Federer’s earliest departure at Roland Garros since 2004. The fourth-seeded Swiss made an unusually high number of unforced errors and looked subdued by the end of the match. Gulbis, the 18th seed, struck his groundstrokes with real venom and produced some deft touches to fully deserve his first place in a grand slam quarters since 2008, also in Paris. -- Mornings @ ANC, June 2, 2014.
