'PH may benefit from crisis in Thailand'

COL Financial says the Philippine economy may have grown above 6 percent in the first quarter of the year, close to the fourth quarter growth last year. COL Financial vice president Juanis Barredo says damage from super typhoon "Yolanda" continued to affect growth during the January to March period. But he points out 6 percent growth is not bad, considering the circumstances. The official first quarter GDP data will be released on May 29. At the same time, Barredo says the Philippines may benefit from the crisis in Thailand as some businesses in that country may choose to transfer to the Philippines.
