Woman shot dead during entrapment operation

MANILA – An elderly woman was shot dead during a police entrapment operation in Caloocan City. Rebecca Safelino, was on board a bus at a terminal when the suspect, 18-year-old Elmer Orcano, fired his gun after learning that he was going to be arrested by the police. Orcano went to the terminal to meet with Kikoy (not his real name), a brother of a woman whose cellphones he had recently stolen. According to Kikoy, he promised to pay Orcano to return the cellular phones. He said he sought the help of the police when Orcano agreed to meet. Safelino, 72, had just gone inside the bus when the shooting occurred.
