Clashes between military, BIFF still ongoing

Fighting between government troops and members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) is still ongoing. But Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division spokesperson Col. Dickson Hermoso assured the clashes in the towns of Datu Piang and Saydona Mustapha will not spill over to nearby towns of North Cotabato and other areas of Maguindanao. The military had earlier said the fighting is not connected to the recent signing of the annex on normalization of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB). Hermoso also pointed out there was coordination with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on the ground on efforts to contain the BIFF. ANC News Now, January 28, 2014
