TRO granted vs UAAP's residency rule

MANILA, Philippines – A temporary restraining order (TRO) has been granted on the controversial UAAP residency-rule. A Quezon City court on Tuesday issued a 20-day TRO that prevents the UAAP and the University of Santo Tomas from enforcing the two-year residency rule against former UST swimmer Anna Dominique “MIkee” Bartolome. Bartolome filed for a TRO last week after UST refused to grant her release that will allow her to represent the University of the Philippines. She was hoping to make it to the UP swimming team’s line-up for the UAAP competitions. The newly enforced UAAP residency rule compels high school graduates transferring from oen UAAP member school to another to go through a two-year residency. Mornings @ ANC, September 4, 2013
