South Korea's Deputy National Security Advisor Kim Hyun-chong says he thinks North Korea and the U.S. will resume their negotiations soon.
After he met Washington's top envoy on Pyeongyang Stephen Biegun earlier today,... he told reporters that's the impression he got from Biegun.
Take a listen.
"I cannot reveal all the details from the more than an hour long talks we had, but I got the impression that dialogue between North Korea and the U.S. will resume soon. And I think that will go well. There's close coordination between South Korea and the U.S. on the negotiations and the denuclearization process."
Kim said he believes they will start again, despite the North's statement appearing to reject the possibility.
He did not elaborate on why.
He added that Biegun raised the issue of South Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation, but again, did not elaborate.
