Harry Styles Reportedly Cast as Prince Eric in ‘The Little Mermaid’
According to TheDisInsider, Harry Styles has
officially signed on to star in Disney’s upcoming
live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.” He will reportedly star in the film as
Prince Eric, the love interest of Ariel,
who will be played by Halle Bailey. Disney has not confirmed
the news. Rumors of the One Direction
singer’s possible involvement in
the film began back in July 2019. Since then, fans have
eagerly called for Styles
to land the role, as they
believe he is a perfect fit. In the original film, Prince Eric does
not perform any songs, but that could
change given Styles’s musical background. Although Styles does not have much acting
experience, he did play a minor role in “Dunkirk,”
which grossed a total of $527.3 million worldwide. Production on “The Little Mermaid”
is expected to begin in January 2020.
