Illinois Mandates Schools to
Teach LGBTQ History Starting in 2020, Illinois public schools will be legally required to teach LGBTQ history in their curriculums. House Bill 246 informs that students must study “the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State.” The bill also includes stipulations for African American history and other groups, including Polish, Irish, Italian, Hispanic and Asian American.
