With the strength of crime noir genre there is bound to be a lot to choose from but how do you create good material. Well one way is to take strong characters and a setting that people are familiar with but there is enough mystery involved to play with. You wrap it all together and get a great series like pretty Baby Machine. These mobsters have all been slighted in one way or another by old scar face Al Capone and are setting the stage for their retribution. This issue did a great job of setting the stage with each of the characters back stories. This story also employs a brilliant use of the narrative and give this book a real cinematic feel. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the art. The black and white art style can do a lot to set the tone of the classic noir story but this particular book is overly simplistic for my taste and not able to convey the depth and emotion of the character that the narrative is creating. Story wise though this is a great read and worth picking up. Distributed by Tubemogul.
