Kamal Mezoued est kabyle. Il est né en Algérie, mais il vit en France depuis 15 années. Il est éducateur spécialisé. Il nous raconte l’histoire mouvementée de son nom de famille.
Demandez à ma mère comment je m’appelle, elle vous dira : Kamal At-Aissa. En Kabylie, cette région de montagnes du nord de l’Algérie, là où je suis né, cela signifie « Kamal descendant d’ Aissa ».Nous, les Kabyles, sommes l’un des nombreux peuples berbères dispersés dans le nord de l’Afrique. Ne nous confondez pas avec les Arabes : nous avons des origines et une langue bien distinctes. Mon nom de famille kabyle n’est pas un nom arabe.
