Here's What To Know
About Hurricane Erick As of Tuesday morning, Erick is
now a Category 3 storm with
115 miles-per-hour winds. The Central Pacific Hurricane Center in
Honolulu adds that Erick is over
920 miles from the town of Hilo, Hawaii. Thankfully for Hawaiian residents, the Center says that Erick will soon begin to weaken. Come Thursday night, the hurricane
will dodge Hawaii and move south of the state. Another soon-to-be Hurricane, Flossie, has
also formed in the Pacific and is
over 2,300 miles from Hilo. Erick will not make landfall, but Hawaii is
still expected to see heavier rain and
winds within a couple days. Local forecasters in Hawaii say it is too early to tell if it will be a threat to the mainland.
