Nissan To Lay Off 12,500 People Following 99% Profit Plunge Nissan is facing massive job cuts after a major plunge in operating profits. The Japanese automaker is expected to let go of 12,500 workers worldwide. CEO Hiroto Saikawa has stated “loss-making overseas facilities” will be the target. CNN Business reports the layoffs come as a result of the operating profit plunging 99%, with revenue dropping 13%. The company will also reduce the product lineup by 10% within the next two years.
