1. Spiral Potato Dogs

You'll Need:

- 3 potatoes
- 3 hot dogs
- oil for frying
- 3 skewers
- 8½ oz flour
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 7 fl oz water

Here's How:

1.1. Stick one skewer through each of the raw, washed potatoes. Then cut a spiral design in each potato.

1.2. Pull the skewers out of the potatoes and use a potato peeler or apple corer to carefully pull out the center of each potato. It should be a wide enough space to fit a hot dog.

1.3. Stick a hot dog in the hollow center of each potato and pull the potato apart so it completely covers the length of the hot dog.

1.4. Mix the flour, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and water together with a whisk.

1.5. Heat some oil in a deep pot to approximately 350°F. Dredge the spiral potato dogs in the batter and deep fry them in the hot oil until golden brown (approximately 3-4 minutes).

2. Potato Corn Dogs:

You'll Need:

- 3 large potatoes
- 3 hot dogs
- 1 large onion
- 4 egg yolks
- 3 oz parmesan cheese
- 1½ tsp salt
- ¾ tsp pepper
- 3 skewers
- oil for frying

Here's How:

2.1 Place a clean dishcloth in a bowl. Peel the onion and potatoes and then grate them over the bowl.

2.2 Wring the dishcloth and squeeze out the liquid.

2.3 Place the potato and onion mixture in a bowl and add the parmesan cheese, egg yolks, salt and pepper. Mix everything together with a fork.

2.4 Stick a skewer through each hot dog. Take a handful of the potato and onion mixture and gently squeeze it around the hot dog until it's evenly coated.

2.5 Heat some oil in a deep pot to approximately 350°F and deep fry the potato corn dogs until golden brown (approximately 4-5 minutes).

One bite of either of these two tasty snacks, and you'll swear you're back at the state fair!
