Today, we're making an eye-catching buffet item that'll have your guests rubbing their eyes in disbelief. No, our fun little friends are not real baby octopuses, but you can use cut up hot dogs and a tasty batter to create the perfect party snack. All it takes is a few simple steps!

You'll Need (for 8):

- 4 hot dogs
- 1.8 oz cornmeal
- 1.8 oz wheat flour
- 1 egg
- 3.4 fl oz milk
- ½ sachet baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1.4 oz ketchup
- oil for frying
- 1 boiled egg
- mayonnaise
- some black olives
- mustard (optional)

Here's How:

1. First, cut the hot dog wieners in half. Now cut the round ends of each half into six to create the octopus legs.

2. For the batter, mix the cornmeal, wheat flour, egg, milk, baking powder, and salt into a smooth mixture using a whisk. Next, mix the ketchup into the batter.

3. Now, dip the "intact" (not cut) parts of your hot dog wieners into the batter and then fry the entire octopus. The cut ends of the hot dog wieners will start to spread out in the hot oil. If the octopuses' heads are too small after frying, dunk them back in the batter and fry them again until their heads are the right size.

4. For the finishing touch, use a drinking straw to make circles from thin slices of egg. To get the egg out of the straw, simply blow into it. Use some mayonnaise to attach the egg eyes to the octopus heads. Now cut out pupils and mouths from the olives to finish off the faces.
