Lucky US safari-goers spot 'rare' lion and her four cubs in Tanzania

This was the magical moment a group of safari-goers in Tanzania near the Muhesi Game Reserve spotted a group of lion cubs with their mother on July 13.

Footage shows the lioness stride forward accompanied by her four cubs who then curiously take the lead and conveniently stop for pictures.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Before we saw the cubs and their mother we actually were watching two other lions in the area.

"After a while, we were getting ready to move on when I prompted the driver that there was another lion coming out of the brush.

"All of a sudden I see something small poke out from under it when to my astonishment a little cub appeared.

"I tried my best to keep my voice down to not spook them and signalled to the other passengers what was happening.

"As the mother moved forward all of sudden more tiny heads popped and that's when I realized how lucky we were.

"I started recording as quickly as possible as I wanted to not forget and be able to share this crazy moment.

"One cub in the wild is a treat but four is a once in a lifetime sighting for most.

"We watched in awe and were delighted when they came out in the open it's something I'll never forget."
