As of this May, there was a record number of young Koreans putting off getting a job in order to prepare for various career-related exams.
Data released by Statistics Korea on Tuesday show... there were nearly 4-point-7 million young people aged 15 to 29 who were economically inactive.
Of them, more than 15 percent were found to be preparing for exams to get hired for positions and jobs of their choice.
That's the highest level since related data was first compiled in 2006... and around 88-thousand more than to the year before.
Of those preparing for a career advancement, nearly 31 percent of them said they wanted to take the national civil service exam... while nearly 25 percent said they're working on professional licenses.
