Scorching hot weather attracts tourists seeking sand therapy in northwest China

A heatwave in Turpan city, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has attracted over 3,000 tourists who have flocked to the Kumtag Desert for “sand therapy”. They believe the scorching sands, which can reach temperatures of more than 50°C, can relieve pain.
