Disney's Freeform Defends
Halle Bailey's 'Little Mermaid' Casting Many angry fans have complained about Ariel being changed from a red-head to a black character in the live-action remake. An online petition titled #NotMyAriel was started in a bid to force Disney to recast the character. Now Freeform, a subsection of the Disney Channel aimed at teens and young adults, has penned an open letter to the haters. It is addressed to the "Poor, Unfortunate Souls" who have a problem with Halle's casting. The letter calls on them to embrace the "incredible, sensational, highly-talented" actress.
