An overflow of water in Barker Park contributes to a flash flood warning issued by the National Weather Service for the immediate D.C. metropolitan area today (July 8).

Amanda Anderson who grew up in Frederick, M.d. which is part of the D.C. metropolitan area, could not believe what she was seeing when she went outside this morning.

"I grew up her and lived in the heart of baker park all my life. I remember it flooding but nothing like this. I was excited to be able to witness this, says Anderson."

Downed trees and mudslides are also impacting the area and causing dangerous situations around the region. Thousands are experiencing power outages, reports say.
