Man opens emergency exit on plane, says he didn't know any better

BANGKOK — A Chinese man was escorted off a plane by Thai cops last Wednesday after opening the aircraft's emergency exit, reports the South China Morning Post.
Lion Air flight SL940 was preparing to fly from Bangkok to Wuhan when the passenger decided to open the emergency exit door, according to Chinese broadcasting company, Phoenix Television.
Citing the Chutian Metropolis Daily, the South China Morning Post reports that a witness saw the man reaching for the handle then pulling the emergency exit downwards, while the plane was on the ground.
Terrified passengers began yelling at him, while a crew member rushed to see what was happening. The passenger that he didn't know that the emergency exit was not meant to be opened. He was apparently nervous and kept apologizing to the flight attendant, according to Phoenix Television.
Not long after, the Thai police appeared and took the man off the plane with his luggage. It's unclear what happened next. The airline declined to comment on the incident, The South China Morning Post reports.
The 6:55 p.m. flight ended up being delayed for around two hours, before eventually departing Thailand at 8:47 p.m.
