Pro-Beijing party of Hong Kong will understand if extradition bill is scrapped

Hongkongers are continuing to rail against the government's controversial extradition bill that would allow criminal suspects to be sent to mainland China for trial.
Starry Lee, the head of Hong Kong's largest pro-Beijing party, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, says her party's supporters will understand if the government decides to scrap the bill altogether.
In an interview with the South China Morning Post on Monday, Lee agreed that the massive protests showed how only suspending the bill is neither practical nor focused.
Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam had suspended the extradition bill but protesters continue to demand its complete withdrawal and for her to step down.
