Iran Sanctions President Donald Trump

order imposing the sanctions
from the Oval Office. Trump said that his actions
"follow a series of aggressive
behaviors by the Iranian
regime in recent weeks." Iran recently shot down a U.S. military
drone it claimed had flown into Iranian territory. U.S. officials have
denied the claim. Trump blamed the
"supreme leader of
Iran" for "the hostile
conduct of his regime." The sanctions will deny
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
"access to key financial
resources and support." Secretary Treasurer
Steve Mnuchin said the
sanctions will "lock up literally
billions of dollars of assets." Trump is reportedly
willing to hold
talks with Iran.
