Arctic Village, at the outskirts of Brooks Range, a community of Atapaskan Native Americans, of the Gwich’in nation, live in cyclical harmony with nature. The hunt for caribou is their only means of livelihood. Furthermore, their entire culture has revolved around this animal for over 3000 years, and is now in danger due to the exploitation of local crude oil that the US government carries out and wants to expand. The presence of the oilrigs diverts the thousands year-old course of the caribou herd, placing the culture of the Gwic’in villages and the entire Arctic ecosystem in jeopardy.
