Bob Page has lost over 120 pounds since 2017.

He committed to running a 5K every morning.

His story was a hit on social media.

BOB PAGE
When that thing went up, literally I had people from all over the world, a ton of people here in the states, like, “I’m trying to do what you’re doing.” I’m just another guy who’s lost some weight who’s now running. We’re all in this together. Anything I can do to help you, that’s what I want to do.

His streak ended in April 2019.

BOB PAGE
I made 578 days. It was amazing and it got me to where I’m at, for sure, but in the same sense, I just don’t want to be, “well, that’s the 5K guy and that’s all that he can do and bla bla bla.” I want to move forward in this running that I’m doing.

A friend invited Page into a private running group.

BOB PAGE
He told me about the Missing Chins. I was like, is this a cult or something?

There are xxxxx members of the Missing Chins.

They have jointly lost over 4,000 pounds.

BOB PAGE
Not only do we all push each other to go harder and to train properly and to eat correctly, but it’s a safe place where you can talk about excess skin and bloody nipples and not have to be worried about putting that out in the public.
MATT BUCKNER
We have a very tightknit community with a lot of guys that have the same mindset… Always thought about themselves as the fat guys, and now we all think about ourselves as athletes.
BOB PAGE
Went from being Godzilla trampling Tokyo to okay, I’m a runner.

In spring 2019, they ran the Coast 2 Coast Relay.

12 men ran 205 miles across Florida.

The participating Chins had lost 1,000 pounds.

Members came from across the country.

Few had met each other in person before.

They quickly hit it off.

The Chins bonded over their shared backstories.

Here comes Matt and Wally out of the dark.
(cheering)
That’s our Missing Chins Club. They’re a very enthusiastic group.

JASON MERCURIO
If you don’t support people, I can’t even imagine not being like that. That’s all everyone does. All you do is support everybody on whatever journey that they’re on.

The group helped each other through the heat.

He’s alright.

Most ran 13-18 miles across 3 legs.

They collectively averaged a 9:51/mile pace.

One of their top performers wasn’t even a relay member.

BOB PAGE
So while Matt didn’t actually run an actual leg, he ended up with the second-most miles out of all of us.
JASON MERCURIO
He would come in at that last mile and run everyone in for 36 legs.
MATT BUCKNER
This was a unit. This was a collective.

The Missing Chins completed the relay in under 34 hours.

They think they’ll field two teams in 2020.
