UN Command approves civilian access to DMZ trail in Goseong

The United Nations Command gave the green light to open hiking trails leading to the Demilitarized Zone,... marking the first time the DMZ will be accessible to civilians since the division of Korea.
The commander of U.S. Forces Korea, Robert Abrams who also leads the UNC... said it has approved the initial phase of South Korea's "Peace Trail" project... at the border town of Goseong, Gangwon-do province.
Other hiking trails leading up to the DMZ are in Cheorwon and Paju... which have not been approved by the UNC to ensure visitors' safety.
