Nitish Kumar Vows to not 'Abandon' Bihar again

Nitish Kumar, leader of the Janata Dal (United), will take oath as Chief Minister of Bihar at 5 pm today.

He has been asked by Governor KN Tripathi to prove his majority in the state Assembly by March 16.
His cabinet will reportedly comprise 22 ministers - 20 of them had resigned from his predecessor Jitan Ram Manjhi's cabinet in protest earlier this month while two others were dismissed by Mr Manjhi.

Mr Kumar had, on Friday, publicly described his decision to quit office last year as "a mistake".

"With folded hands, I apologise to the people of Bihar. Never again will I take such a step. I am ready to lead from the front," he said, after his rival Jitan Ram Manjhi quit as Chief Minister, hours before a trust vote in which the BJP had pledged to back him.
