BJP bookies’ favourite in Maharashtra battle

Regardless of the spectacular win of the Bhartaiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party will not be able to get a simple majority in the Maharashtra polls this year, fathom the bookies in Mumbai’s Satta Bazar.
The current estimates by the illegal betting market, which had early this year predicted about the BJP-led alliance crossing the 272-seat mark in the Lok Sabha, suggest that the BJP could manage to win a little over 110-115 seats in Maharashtra.
More than 144 seats are required to form the government in the 288-seat Maharashtra state Assembly.
