Ajit Pawar puts an ultimatum to ally Congress

The alliance between the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra is threatened with a break-up after the Sharad Pawar party poached on independent MLAs who had defeated Congress candidates in the last Assembly polls in 2009.When asked if he is planning to go alone in the October 15 elections, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar said, "It seems like things are moving in that direction. We are firm on 144 seats."
