India Debates: 4 month #RomanHoliday for marine

India’s Supreme Court Friday said one of the two Italian marines accused of killing two Indian fishermen in 2012 can go home for four months for medical treatment if he promises to return to India.

Chief Master Sgt. Massimiliano Lattore was hospitalized after he suffered a stroke in August but later discharged.

Along with fellow Italian marine Sgt. Salvatore Girone, he is currently on bail and residing at the Italian embassy in New Delhi.

The pair have not been formally charged but have not been permitted to leave India since early last year, when they were permitted to return to Italy to vote in national elections there.
