After treating patients while wearing helmets to show support to their Maharashtra counterparts, around 40,000 resident doctors in Delhi on Thursday have decided to go on a mass leave.

As per reports, the mass leave of doctors in Delhi commenced from 9AM and will continue till 4PM on Thursday.

Among the top hospitals of Delhi whose resident doctors will be joining the protest are All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital, apart from other Delhi government hospitals and medical institutions under the civic bodies.

President of Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) said in a statement that if their issues are not addressed and resolved, then doctors from several other states might join the protest.

The protest came after a series of attacks on doctors that have taken place in Maharsathra in the past week.

Elsewhere, a resident doctor at Sion Hospital in Mumbai was attacked by the relatives of a patient on Wednesday night.
