NewsX: Former DGP alleged that CM Kiran Kumar Reddy uses power for his personal benefit

Hyderabad: A week after stepping down, former DGP V. Dinesh Reddy on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, calling him a 'backstabber' and a 'betrayer'.

He alleged that, in order to sabotage Telangana, the CM wanted him to lie publicly that the bifurcation of the state would strengthen Naxalism.

Dinesh Reddy alleged that the CM and his brother Santosh Kumar Reddy wanted him to settle many land disputes in their favour. He said that turning down the CM's requests for personal favours cost him an extension of the DGP post.

"In the last two months, the CM showed me his real face. It was his personal vendetta that denied me extension as DGP. Despite being one of the best police chiefs in the state with the longest stint, I was insulted and humiliated by him," he alleged.

Dinesh Reddy alleged that the CM uses his power for his personal benefit and encourages corruption. He revealed that it was the CM who forced him to give permission for the APNGOs public meeting at LB Stadium on September 7.

"Considering the law and order situation, I did not want to give my consent for the meeting, but the CM forced me. He also wanted me to give permission for another such meet at Gachi-bowli.

However, I refused. Following an intelligence source, when I requested additional forces in Seemandhra just before the CWC decision on Telangana, he scolded me," the former DGP said.

He said the CM used to meddle in the postings of IPS officers for his own political gain. "He often asked me to transfer and post some SP-level officers for his own benefit, but I refused to do that. Many files regarding IPS officers' postings are still pending due to culpable negligence of the CM," Dinesh Reddy said.

Talking about how the CM cheated him on his extension, he said that the CM had purposely played against him. "On several occasions I was assured by the CM himself that I would get an year's extension.

My name was not there in the UPSC list of retiring IPS officers in 2013. However, just two days prior to my superannuation, I was given my retirement notice, which left me only two working days to approach CAT and Supreme Court for the extension. I am deeply hurt," he said.
