Communal riots in India: Muzaffarnagar violence - Centre files affidavit in SC, 2462 arrested

New Delhi: The central government on Monday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in the Muzaffarnagar violence case. In its affidavit, the centre has informed the apex court that it has deployed 78 companies of paramilitary forces in the Muzaffarnagar district. The government has also given extended relief under the Prime Minister's relief scheme and extended Rs 2 lakhs to the relatives of those dead, and 50,000 rupees for those critically injured, the affidavit added.
