News X: Government not to implement Moily's bizzare austerity drive on oil

The falling rupee seems to be giving trouble to Indian Government as the rising oil import bills has fuelled the current account deficit forcing the ministry to come forward to reduce the oil import.
The petroleum ministry is planning to do away with 24-hour petrol pumps in cities, oild minister M Veerappa Moily said.
"It (petrol pump timings) could be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or something like that. We are still working on it. It may not be implemented on the highways though. Such measures are already in place in many other countries," a leading daily reported Moily as saying.
