NewsX Exclusive: Adi Godrej speaks on India's crisis

Adi Godrej: I do not think it will impact India very much because of two factors. One, we have tremendous potential to bring in reforms that can get us to a very high growth rate despite the global economies stalling. For example, if the goods and services taxes are introduced, which it looks like it will be in April 2012, now with Sushil Modi incharge, that can add 1.5 to 2 percentage points, other things be equal to our GDP growth. If for example, if we can get these transparency and probity issue controlled and corruption comes down, that could further add to GDP growth. So I think this time compared to the last occasion, the opportunities are much better in India. Also, I do not feel the global economy is going to go into as much of a problem as it did in 2008 and 2009.
