257 crucial files relating to the Coalgate scam have gone missing. The CBI now is seeking the missing files from the Coal Ministry which are thus hampering the agency's probe.
some of the missing files are related to 13 FIRs registered by CBI in connection with allocations done during 2006-09.
Out of 257 files, nearly 150 are of the period between 1993 and 2004 in which 45 coal blocks were allocated.
Other files, related to 2006 to 2009 when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held charge of the portfolio too have gone missing.
The Opposition launched a scathing attack on the government over the missing coal files in the parliament yesterday. when an inundated Coal Minister dared the BJP to prove charges against him.
