Fearing water riots, government imposes section 144 in Maharashtra's Latur district

If the drought in Maharashtra's Latur district is unprecedented then so is the government's move to impose Section 144 in the city. The city is struggling with acute water crisis. The Dhanegaon water reservoir, which was the most dependable source, has gone completely dry. Adding to the woes is the fourth consecutive year of no rains in the region.
