What will be the effect of coal scam on the economy? (Part 1)

Coal Scam: NewsX Debate is a NewsX special show which debates the main news event of the day. In a damning indictment, the parliamentary standing committee has blamed both the NDA and the UPA for the Coal gate scam. It says coal blocks distributed between 1993 and 2008 were unauthorized. And that the exchequer didn't get any revenue from them. The latest report of the Committee is slated to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday. The trouble for the UPA government comes at a time when it is already battling a controversy over the CBI's report on the scam. On Friday, the agency will be telling the Supreme Court, that Law Minister Ashwani Kumar reviewed its report and suggested a list of alterations. So the question we are asking is- What will be the effect of coal scam on the economy? Will responsibility ever be fixed in a scam that involves all parties? Is everyone in the UPA trying to shield the PM? We debate this on the show and try to evolve consensus among our panelists over the issue.
