UP: Minister hauls up officer for failing to clean up dam

Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy being hauled up by Akhilesh's ministers who demand action and execution of work entrusted, but the babus stick to the old pattern of grovelling before the ministers to seek pardon for lapses rather than working diligently. The latest example of this seen in Pilibhit district. The state's Water Works & Irrigation Minister Shiv Pal Yadav was touring the Sharda Sagar Dam in Pilibhit. On noticing the huge amount of uncleared silt and moss and plankton cover on the water, the minister demanded that the water body should have been cleared. The moment Shiv pal Yadav demanded to know the Executive Engineer's name, the fear in the man's eyes was palpable. Upon this, the Executive Engineer named Jeevan Ram Yadav fell at the minister's feet seeking pardon.
