2000 Red Fort attack case: SC stays Mohammad Arif's execution

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the execution of the prime accused in the 2000 Red Fort attack case. Mohammad Arif alias Ashfaq was given death penalty in the attack.

Arif, however, challenged the various procedures adopted by the court in deciding his review petition as well as the curative petition.

He stated that he had suffered mental harassment on account of long periods of incarceration during trial and that it amounted to cruelty.
