Tonight with Deepak Chaurasia: Why Ashutosh Maharaj's dead body is given Z security?

With the Punjab and Haryana High Court likely to pronounce its judgment in the Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan case involving its head Ashutosh Maharaj tomorrow, security has been stepped up in and around the dera premises here.
Additional force has been called from Hoshiarpur and police authorities in other neighbouring districts have been already told to be ready in case of an emergency.
Dera chief Ashutosh Maharaj had been declared clinically dead on January 29 by a panel of three doctors but his last rites have not been performed since the past four months. The dera authorities are of the view that their dera head is in meditation and would return. The building, where the body of dera chief has been kept, stands completely secluded.
Even today, the movement of the police force could be seen inside the premises. Several policemen, including Nurmahal SHO Gulshan Lal and women constables were seen inside the premises today in civvies, probably to ensure that the regular devotees who turn up for a bigger Sunday congregation did not feel alarmed or scared.
Nakodar DSP Satish Malhotra said that security had been beefed up on directions by higher officials.
Since nearly 50 to 60 policemen, other than Z security, are deployed in the dera on a regular basis, the Punjab Police are well aware of almost the entire plan of the compound. A regular police post is functioning at the check post of the dera. The dera itself has its own well-managed security of followers, who take note of every person entering the compound and even frisk them. Everyone entering inside is fully tracked as there are cameras installed at a distance of every 15 to 20 metres.
After hearing various sides, the court of Justice MMS Bedi had on October 29 reserved the judgement. The court had earlier also made it clear that the body could not be kept without cremation and the government should not sit over the matter.
Ashutosh Maharaj’s son Mahesh Kumar Jha had subsequently filed an application in the Punjab and Haryana High Court offering himself for a DNA test to establish his parentage. With the pronouncement scheduled for tomorrow in the supplementary cause list of the court, this aspect is also likely to be covered in the tomorrow’s pronouncement.
