Sources tell NewsX that a CAG interim report on the VVIP AgustaWestland chopper contract is ready and is set to be presented to the Ministry of Defence soon. After clearance it would be submitted to Parliament. A CBI team is to leave from Italy on Sunday to probe kickbacks in the deal. Defence Ministry officials will be part of this team. An FIR is expected to follow the preliminary inquiry. This comes on the back of the Defence Ministry deciding to cancel the contract. A notice has been sent to AgustaWestland seeking an explanation within 7 days.
