Delhi gangrape: Parliamentry panel to meet on December 27 - NewsX

People's anger over the Delhi gangrape is now making Parliamentarians shift focus to the country's antiquated rape laws. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs has now convened a meeting on the 27th of December. Union Home Secretary R K Singh and Delhi's Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar will also be attending the meeting. The meeting has been called to deliberate issues concerning rapes, changes to be made in laws and suggestions for the govt. Issues that could be considered include changes in the Evidence Act, in camera trial of rape cases and setting up of fast track courts and the demand for grant of death sentence for rape convicts.
