10 intersections accident-prone in Delhi

Traffic cops have identified ten intersections around the city as accident-prone during any time of the day due to faulty road design and flow of traffic. They said the data has been shared with the road-owning agencies in order to ensure that appropriate action is taken. They have also sent requests to the civic authorities to create the required road infrastructure in these areas in order to avoid casualties.

Most of these spots are near busy intersections, like Mukarba Chowk and Ashram Chowk, where traffic remains heavy throughout the day. The police have also recorded the number of fatal accidents that occurred in these areas last year.

For example, the area around Ashram Chowk and Ashram Marg had more than five fatal accidents last year. Traffic officials blame the density of traffic and road design. The AIIMS-INA market and Ambience Mall stretches in south Delhi too figure in the list of such spots.

Here is a list of the 10 most dangerous stretches in Delhi:

1. Shastri Park crossing
2. Shakarpur chungi crossing
3. Ashram chowk
4. Seelampur chowk
5. Punjabi Bagh crossing
6. Mukundpur crossing
7. Britannia chowk
8. Hanuman Mandir chowk (Budhpur)
9. Nigambodh Ghat chowk
10. Moti Nagar chowk
