As countdown begins for Olympics, London bound race walkers Basant Bahadur Rana and Irfan Kolothum Thodi have been forced to buy special walking shoes with their meager earnings. Basant and Irfan both sepoys in the Indian Army earn just 15,000 per month and are the sole breadwinners of their fairly large families. What's even shocking is the apathy of sports authorities, who gave running shoes to the walkers.
